To make the world a better place for men and for women
’ There’s Nothing Serious about Yoga, that’s all junks for the mind, enjoy, have fun and then you will be in the right place for discovering who you really are. Live it, Love it and then (only then) you will truly Learn it ‘……….Indra
I had a fabulous shoot last Thursday in Leeds City Centre with the wonderful Nicola Radford. To me having pictures taken isn’t about being serious, well to be honest nothing much to me is about being serious it’s about being spontaneous, in the moment and having fun and Nicola really captured that and i love her for just that alone, it’s not always an easy feat for a photographer to click with their subject, here’s just a few snaps, more to come :)

‘Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony’
~ Thomas Merton
Partner Yoga is such a great way to connect with another it brings a wonderful sense of fulfillment and allows us to engage, which when you think about it doesn’t usually happen during a Yoga class or Sadhana. We are more than often either a) trying to be in the moment with ourselves attempting to control the busy mind or b) checking out our dirty toe nails as we attempt to ‘ujay’ breath our way into a forward bend.
So if you haven’t tried Partner Yoga yet then give it a go, it’s also a great way to heighten the sex life!! :) ENJOY!!

Don’t kill yourself running marathons when the good life’s available to you on your mat.
I just realised how long it’s been since I’ve been on here, where does time go?
Any way in this mornings yoga session the topic came up about whether yoga was aerobic. I guess we could have pondered this rich discussion for a few hours and I’m sure many of you have your own opinion which is why I’m touching on the subject, to air discussion.
(I just want to add I teach a few runners, extreme runners, so the subject had potential to get juicy, but yoga time won the vote:)
A brief line on me
I danced for the majority of my life till I was 17 and then moved from dance into yoga. I guess at a young age you get attracted to the more physical sides of the practice, which as we know isn’t the purpose behind practicing yoga at all, but I really don’t want to get into that because it’s a different subject (or maybe a book) for another time.
Yoga and my own personal Sadhana has always been about balance and gaining the necessary benefits required for that particular day or that moment in time and as we know we are continuously changing so the asanas that we did last monday may not fit the bill next friday. To me listening to the body is vital so why do we feel the need to get 30 minutes of intense daily aerobic exercise if our bodies don’t really feel tuned into that on that particular day. Are we still living in the past when it was only beneficial if we ‘felt the burn’? or are we just addicted to the good old exercise rush? and believe me I was addicted to that rush for many years.
Aerobic
A brief meaning
Relating to or denoting exercise that improves the efficiency of the body’s cardiovascular system in absorbing and transporting oxygen.
If the heart rate rises above it’s norm and oxygen intake becomes deeper, this is classed as aerobic.
12 rounds of Surya Namaskar (or more) may answer the question above:)

Whether you like it or not (and I like it), soon Autumn/winter will be on it’s lovli way: )
But there’s one thing I have a serious issue with during these months and most months to be honest and that’s freezing cold feet (and hands). So this year before the chilblains kick in i’ve started accumulating some wonderful handmade crocheted and knitted items to help me along the way.
Over the years my socks have become serious entertainment in my yoga classes, I’m always adorned in some cosy woolie item, just seems to be part of me. I think maybe I should just move to Southern India for some heat *dream* Ahhh!! one day.

See the WARMERS I have 3 pairs in various rainbow shades!!*more please*
Ok let’s get serious, heres some tips on warming those feet, oh and by the way did you know that us ladies have thinner skin than men so our feet get colder quicker!!! True, guess that’s kinda common sense.
Advice for cold tootsies
CHOOSE THE RIGHT SHOES
The circulatory system is the body’s own unique central heating system and the blood pumped around your body provides a kind of heat maintenance. So, if you wear tight shoes, this can cut off
the circulation to your feet, leaving them feeling cold.
WATCH WHAT YOU EAT
Vitamin K is important; it helps to strengthen the cardiac muscles in your heart as well as the blood capillaries. It also improves circulation around your body, including your feet, therefore keeping them warmer. Ginger, fish, parsley, salad, spring onions, apricots and celery are all good sources of Vitamin K.
EXERCISE REGULARLY
Regular exercise — whether it be a brisk walk, cycle or run — helps keep the heart healthy and strong, and so more efficient at pumping blood around the body.
USE A FOOT SPA
If you have very cold feet, it’s important not to warm them up too quickly, such as with a hot-water bottle or against a radiator — in the worst case scenario, you could end up with chilblains. The most effective way is bathing your feet in warm water or using a foot spa. This will warm up your feet slowly and naturally, and also keep them hydrated from the outside, improving circulation.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
When you are dehydrated your hands and feet get colder, too, as dry skin fails to maintain a good moisture balance and so does not retain heat.
WEAR NATURAL SOCKS
Cheap, synthetic, man-made fibres are so closely woven together that there are no air pockets in which to retain your natural body heat. Natural wool and cotton socks have more textured fibres and are less tightly bound, so they hold more warm air around the feet.
MOISTURISE
Lanolin, (available in cream form from Boots and Superdrug) helps to retain moisture in the skin, helping to improve blood flow and, therefore, retain heat.
